Kemrī The aftermath of India’s surgical strikes has provided us with a new hero – Arnab Goswami. Every night, on super primetime, Arnab and his ego, put on a beautiful performance where they painstakingly take down every opinion that could be perceived as anti-Indian. Instead of using rationale or reason, Arnab uses the most effective tools available – bullying, shouting and mocking. Never mind if the person at the receiving end is Indian or Pakistani. Every claim made by Pakistan (no matter how trivial) is first hyped up by Arnab to make it seem important. Then follows a diatribe of accusatory nonsense masked as a question. Before the respondent can answer, Arnab says that the respondent is wrong and has been exposed to the nation, on super-primetime. After this Mr. Goswami typically dry humps (not always literally) a guest who agrees with him.

Affery Arnab is doing us all a service by simplifying the meaning of nationalism and patriotism. Layered and nuanced arguments, are wrong. The only way one can be patriotic, is to never question the government in power. It has not been an easy path for the BJP government. Anti-national artists, academicians, intellectuals, scientists, journalists and members of the civil society have all tried to express their opinions that differ from those of the government. Thankfully, all these Paki-loving, pseudo liberal, sickulars who espouse archaic ideas like equality, secularism and freedom of speech have been struck down by the government and its mouthpieces. On occasion, one of these mouthpieces has been a very loud and exuberant Arnab Goswami.

No credible person, organization or country has supported Pakistan during the ongoing border scenario. This has not deterred Arnab from creating hours of news coverage. He has focused on the question that hounds every Indian – what do the Pakistani media and Pakistani politicians have to say about India? Such is his dedication, that he painstakingly files every anti-India news report and makes sure that a Pakistani army or political representative is available to Indian audiences during super primetime. Arnab has also astutely recognized the importance of statements made by India’s Bollywood fraternity. We cannot underestimate the value of quotes coming out of the film industry when talking about international diplomacy. Especially we must spend many hours deliberating the words of an actor who may have run over multiple humans with his car and then preached for decades about being human. We all owe a debt to Arnab and the nation will take decades to repay what this one man is single handily doing towards building up the reputation of India’s media.

If Arnab was a cricket bowler, he would appeal for LBW, give the batsman out, kick the runner in the balls, punch the umpire and then tell the nation that he has exposed match fixing, on super primetime. If we ever go to war, we can sleep safe at night knowing that Arnab, his lung power, ego and rhetoric is at work, protecting us.
